Accelerated Flight Instruction
(Focused and Efficient Flight Training!)
The
concept of "Accelerated" flight instruction is fantastic! When
carried out properly with a well informed, and prepared student the
experience is highly rewarding for both the student and the instructor. They are my favorite courses to conduct for a few reasons.
- The learning is focused and efficient
with few distractions to get in the way of learning and retention. In
fact, if was up to me I would rename "accelerated" flight training to
"focused and efficient" flight training.
- Our average student finishes near the FAA minimum time of 40 hours. This
is far better than the national average of closer to 70 hours! most
overages happen because of time and distractions between lessons. Most
pilots learn to fly over a period of months or years with 1 or 2 flight
training days per week (maybe) with one flight per lesson where an accelerated student flies 2
times per day for an average of 18 days with 2 days off and one day for
the final checkride.
- Less review
time before the final checkride due to recency of experience leading to
excellent retention of skills and knowledge learned.
Preparation
for the accelerated pilot course is essential! Before any pilot is
allowed to schedule an accelerated course I must personally interview
each applicant and follow a proven checklist type interview by the
letter to make sure the student fully understands the scope of the
course to be completed and the dedication required. Each student MUST
pass any required written tests and/or medical examinations before
arrival or on the first day before lessons begin so that there are no
distractions. Each student receives a course syllabus, training
schedule of events, and mandatory study materials to fully prepare for
the adventure ahead so that there are as few surprises as possible.
Do
not despair if you cannot take three weeks off in a row! I
understand. The next best solution is to fully dedicate at least 2
days per week to flight training and then on those two days fly twice
and concentrate on only flying from when you wake up to when you go to
bed. I have found this to be the next best solution and since you are
able to work in between flights you are offsetting the additional
costs.
I
am happy to accommodate almost any schedule you need. The sky is the
limit and you are in command!
